Abstract

Calcretes are widely distributed in the arid and semi-arid tracts of the Thar Desert. Strategically important roads of this desert region need a suitable, locally available paving material. Mineralogy, physical and geotechnical properties of calcretes indicate their suitability for road pavements.

Abstract

A new cost and time effective impregnation technique is proposed for soils and friable rocks using poly Vinyl Chloride dissolved in Tetra Hydro Furon as solvent cement. It can not be used with clayey sediments or other acetone sensitive materials.
