On the Aberrancy Curve

The locus of the centres of conies having contact of the third order with a given plane curve at a given point is a straight line through the point, called the line of aberrancy. The centre of the osculating conic, i.e. the conic having contact of the fourth order lies on this line and is called the centre of aberrancy.
