This (885 pages) is a study prepared by the author at the Rand Corporation, California, USA for the US Air Force. It is based mostly on material published in the US (material on war games, nuclear strategy considerations during the cold war and global issues) and official pronouncements and writings of strategy analysts in India. Although its focus is on the evolution of India's nuclear posture, whenever relevant there is a discussion of Pakistan's and China's nuclear strategic considerations. Although it is written from the point of view of the global concerns of the U S regarding nuclear strategic considerations and foreign policy, it contains a great deal of material of interest to the Indian reader who may not have access to the other side of the question as it were.
