'Prejudice' Without 'Pollution'?Scheduled Castes in Contemporary Punjab

The historical evidence on caste relations and the empirical literature available on the status of dalits in the region clearly show that though caste has existed in Punjab, the structure of caste hierarchy in the region has been quite different from other parts of the sub-continent.
