Subscribe/Renew Journal
Sexism is defined as the unfair and unequal treatment of women in the world. The role of women and men in the society is influenced by various factors like region, religion, culture, traditions etc. The study of history reveals how women struggled and faced numerous challenges, especially from the opposite sex. Tan’s The Kitchen God’s Wife highlights how women are considered as mere objects of man, the tribulations and difficulties a women suffers within the four walls of a house as well as in the society. Tan’s works mostly deal with themes such as ethnic and cultural misconceptions, violence, isolation, generational perceptions, gender, sexism etc. I purpose to present a paper on how women struggle to overcome the problems imposed by man and how she fights back for her self-governing and an identity of her own.
