Epidermal studies of thirty seven Indian species of Selaginella have been carried out. On the basis of the presence or absence of sclerotic fibres on the margin of the leaves, distribution of stomata and presence or absence of a ring of subsidiary cells around the stoma etc., a tentative key for the identification of these heterophyllous Indian species of Selaginella has been devised.
