Abstract

The binding constant, K, of [Co(en)₃]³⁺, [CO(II)]²⁺, [Co(NH₃)₅Cl]²⁺, trans-[Co(en)₂Cl₂]⁺ and [Co(NH₃)₃ (NO₂)₃]⁰ defined in terms of the partitioning between bulk aqueous phase and micellar pseudophase, using gel filtration chromatography employing Sephadex G-25 fine and sodium dodecylsulphate, SDS. The variation of K with charge types is explained on the basis of the role of both electrostatic and hydrophobic effects.
