‘A Study of Absenteeism in a Manufacturing Company’

This is a study of absenteeism in a manufacturing company. Due to the confidentiality and not disclosing the name of the company, the name is not been mentioned. This company provides products and services in the automotive industry to Indian and global customers.

"Employee absenteeism is one of the most common workplace problems facing employers in today's workplace. Legitimate illnesses still account for the majority of employee absences, but some studies have shown that less than one-third of absences from the workplace are related to poor health. Most employers offer their workers vacation, sick leave, paid time off, or other kinds of paid and unpaid leave" (Resource-HR-Employee-Law).

Therefore this study concentrates on the different parameters which influence for absenteeism- Social Environment, Rewards&Recognition, Responsibilities, Technology, etc. It is a descriptive study. The study finds out the cause of absenteeism in the organization and according to that propose the suggestions to reduce the absenteeism. The study is based on the survey based method with structured questionnaire data collection. The study approached qualitatively. The respondents for this survey were selected on the basis of their availability, such that there work routine was not affected. Sampling unit selected for this report are the Direct and Indirect Employees of the company. The sample size for the research is ninety.
