Part 2 is an account of the author's two-year tenure as a US Peace Corps Volunteer and subsequent visits to Ethiopia as a US election observer, Fulbright lecturer/researcher, and conferee. The content focuses on circumstances in which the author found herself and how she dealt with them as an outsider and as an American of Chinese descent living and working in Africa.
