Computational Analysis and Experimental Investigations on Super Plastic Forming of Lead Tin Alloys

A low cost manufacturing assembly set up for Super Plastic Forming (SPF) of Lead Tin (60:40) alloys is designed, manufactured and established. Indigenously designed clamping system with dead weights is fabricated in the assembly set up. Finite element analysis of SPF of Lead Tin alloys in a cone die is performed in MARC. Cone shaped components are manufactured in the indigenously built assembly set up with the generated pressure time diagram as input and developed the FE analysis. The FEA results of the formed components closely correlate with the experimental results.
