Design and Fabrication of Asymmetric Multi-Electrodes for Fabrication of Corrugated Steel Panels

The sandwich composites are multilayered materials made by bonding stiff, high strength skin facings to low density core material. The main benefits of using the sandwich concept in structural components are the high stiffness and low weight ratios. Open core metallic sandwich panels are novel type of structures, enabled by innovative fabrication and topology design tools. Such fabricated open core structures welding by Resistance Spot Welding (RSW). The problems associated with RSW are tendency of alloying with the electrode resulting in increased tool wear, and subsequent deterioration of weld quality. In this present work the experimental studies were conducted under type of spot weld, welding current, welding time, hold time and material combination. The complicated behaviour of this process must be analysed to set the optimum parameters to get good quality weld. Based on orthogonal array the experiments were conducted tensile strength test on universal testing machine find out Tensile strength which indicates shear load as per model, Ultimate Shear Stress (UTS) which indicates Shear stress of the weld joint and maximum displacement. The main objective is to predict the better operation conditions of spot weld and influence of each parameter is evaluated.
