Parametric Optimization of Micro-Drilling of PMMA (Poly Methyl Meth-Acrylate)

Micro-holes are the inherent feature of micro-products. Conventional micro-drilling has certain advantages over other non-conventional techniques because of better stability of the process. Further electrically non-conducting material can also be micro-drilled. In the present investigation, micro-drilling of PMMA, an aero-space material, has been carried out using CNC-milling machine. The circularity error, machining time, torque and thrust are optimised using grey based Taguchi method.
