Friction Stir Processing is an innovative approach incepted to modify the surface and mechanical properties of materials .This technique is evolved from one of the most prominent metal joining technique, Friction Stir Welding. AA6061 is an Aluminium alloy that has good strength with moderate ductility. This investigation is concerned with the correlation of tensile properties of friction stir processed AA 6061 obtained from a miniature testing technique popularized as the Shear Punch Test (ShP) and conventional testing methods. In addition this investigation encompasses the heat generation and micro structural modifications in friction stir processed AA6061 wrought Aluminium alloy using three different pin profiles.
