The present study aims to apply AE in the drilling of GFRP laminates and understand the different events that occur from the time the drill come in contact with the surface to the time when the process is complete for various spindle speeds. Experiments were carried out under varying speeds on random fiber GFRP. The results clearly indicate that AE parameters as well as AE waveform can be used to identify the optimum cutting condition on drilling random oriented glass fiber reinforced composite laminate and also can be used for monitoring the drilling process.

Abstract

The present study aims to apply AE in the drilling of GFRP laminates and understand the different events that occur from the time the drill come in contact with the surface to the time when the process is complete for various spindle speeds. Experiments were carried out under varying speeds on random fiber GFRP. The results clearly indicate that AE parameters as well as AE waveform can be used to identify the optimum cutting condition on drilling random oriented glass fiber reinforced composite laminate and also can be used for monitoring the drilling process.
