Evaluation of Flexible Manufacturing Systems Using Multi-Attribute Utility Technology

In the present work, a methodology based on multi-attribute utility technology (MAUT) is suggested for evaluation of alternative flexible manufacturing systems. A ‘flexible manufacturing system selection index’ is proposed that evaluates and ranks flexible manufacturing systems for a given industrial application. The methodology is illustrated by means of an example.
