Manufacturing Sector Grows by 10.4 PC
A healthy growth in the manufacturing by more than 10 percent, 4.3 percent in mining and more than 24 percent growth in production of capital goods has pushed the overall Index for Industrial Production (IIP) to 9.5 percent in April 2006 as against 8.1 percent growth recorded in April 2005, according to the official data released by the Central Statistical Organisation (CSO). The increase in the IIP in the first month of the current fiscal is substantial compared to the revised rate of growth of 8.2 percent recorded in the preceding month, which was also lower compared to 8.4 percent growth in March 2005.
