In this investigation, Taguchi method is used to optimize the CNC-Wire cut-EDM parameters for effective machining of Ai-SiC MMC. From experimental results and through analysis of variance (ANOVA) and 'F' test values the significant factors are determined for surface roughness. Mathematical model relating to the machining performance criteria e.g. surface finish is established using Gauss elimination method for effective machining of AI/SiC-MMC. Confirmation test results show that the developed mathematical model is appropriate for effective machining of AI/SiC-MMC and the determined optimal combination of CNC-Wire cut-EDM parameters can also satisfy the real requirement in practice.
