Sky Bus Metro Track Gets US Patent

Konkan Railway Corporation's indigenous technologies-Sky Bus Metro and its self-stabilising track have received the US patent making them globally-acceptable technologies. A full-scale prototype o f Sky Bus Metro has been recently made by Konkan Railway at Madgaon, Goa and construction o f 1.6 km test track for the same is underway, an official release said on Monday. Sky Bus Metro, a unique technology for Urban Mass Transportation, is highly eco-friendly and cost-effective as compared to other transportation in Urban areas, the release said. The self-stabilising track is another landmark technology o f Konkan Railway which makes the railway track virtually maintenance-free which lays the foundation for a "faster, safer, economical and smoother rail transport", it said. It has an unique design where the frequency response of the ballast is modified to get track stabilised rather than be-destabilised under all traffic, the release said adding that it also saves the amount o f ballast normally required for railway track.
