Wheel and Axle Plant Renamed

The Ministry of Railways has issued a notification renaming the Wheel and Axle Plant at Yelahanka, Bangalore, as Rail Wheel Factory with immediate effect, says a press note. The Rail Wheel Factory is one of the six production units of the indian Railways. it was set up in 1985 to make the Railways self-reliant in wheels and axles. To supplement its efforts, Durgapur Steel Plant of the Steel Authority of India Ltd. has been manufacturing wheels and axles for the Indian Railways.
