Factors Affecting Micro-pension Contributions by Informal Sector Workers in Odisha
Subscribe/Renew Journal
The objective of the study is to analyse the demographic trends and socio-economic profile of aging population in India in general and Odisha in particular, and to estimate the factors affecting the contribution to micro-pension by workers in the informal sector of Odisha. Using the data of 715 micro-pension clients and non-clients from three districts of Odisha, the study finds that there is a significant relationship between contribution towards micro-pension with their demographic and socioeconomic characteristics. The paper concludes that if micropension are designed and executed properly, they can help the informal sector workers to provide them a secure and dignified life during their old age and rescue them out of the poverty trap.
