Forest fires are as old as the Forest themselves. During the last few decades, our country has seen an unprecedented rise in the number of incidences of Forest fires. Forest fires are a very serious hazard which not only damage the biodiversity of the Forest, but pose a serious threat to the entire ecological system of the area. A number of defense mechanisms need to be put in place to control the menace, public participation being the most important factor. In the present paper, Forest incidences that have occurred in Sunderbani Forest Division of District Rajouri since 2012 have also been reported.
