Abstract

The paper presents harvesting of solar energy by the charge controller techniques to charge the battery bank at a particular voltage during the daylight by the Flyback converter to utilize this power at spacecraft power systems during the orbital night or when the load demand exceeds the solar cell or array ability. All bits and pieces are monitored and controlled by the Flyback power supply unit or converters as light weight, high power density, compact size, least cost, low profile, low volume, tight regulations, good design, high reliability and high efficiency.

Abstract

Wind is a form and complimentary natural resources of solar energy. Winds are caused by the irregular heating of the atmosphere by the sun, the irregularities of the earth's surface, and revolution of the earth. Wind flow patterns are modified by the earth's terrain, bodies of water, and vegetative envelop. This wind flow, or motion energy, when harvested by contemporary current of air turbines, can be used to generate electricity for mankind.

Abstract

The work presents in this paper is related to the proposal design and simulation of a dc to dc switching converter system suitable for charging a battery from a solar photo-voltaic (SPV) panel and a load controller circuit which is necessary to disconnect the load from the battery when the voltage of the battery falls below a certain value and to reconnect it again when battery charges. The load controller circuit disconnects the load from the battery in case the former draws higher than normal current from the battery. The charge controller section converts the varying voltage from the SPV panel to a constant voltage, current limited power to change the battery along with temperature compensation of the charging voltage to ensure long life of the battery.

Abstract

Load forecasting is an exercise of the power system to anticipate the future load demand. Accordingly generation capacity may be increased to cope up with future load demand. In this paper, it has been discussed that mere augmentation of generation capacity will not serve this purpose. Plant load factor of the power plants should also be increased as the same of old power plants are to be increased by renovation and modernization. This matter has been discussed by the analysis power perspective of the West Bengal upto 11^th five year's plans, i.e.2012.
