Elastic-plastic stresses in a thin rotating non-homogeneous disc of variable thickness and variable density under steady state temperature have been obtained, using Seth's transition theory. Non- homogeneity in the disc is considered due to radial variation of modulus of rigidity. Thickness and density are assumed to vary radially. As a numerical example, it has been seen that a disc having more non -homogeneity at the bore (t>0) whose thickness and density decrease radially (k>0&n<o) may be beneficial from a design point of view in the presence of small temperature gradient.

Abstract

Elastic-plastic stresses in a thin rotating non-homogeneous disc of variable thickness and variable density under steady state temperature have been obtained, using Seth's transition theory. Non- homogeneity in the disc is considered due to radial variation of modulus of rigidity. Thickness and density are assumed to vary radially. As a numerical example, it has been seen that a disc having more non -homogeneity at the bore (t>0) whose thickness and density decrease radially (k>0&n<o) may be beneficial from a design point of view in the presence of small temperature gradient.
