The aim of the study was to develop and optimize formulations of mucoadhesive patches of Terbutaline sulphate. The patches were prepared by the solvent casting method using Hydroxyl propyl methyl cellulose (HPMC E-15) as basic polymer along with Carbopol 934, Eudragit RL 100, and Chitosan were taken in different concentration. The patches were found to be smooth in appearance, uniform in thickness, weight uniformity, drug content, swelling behavior, and surface pH. Terbutaline Sulphate Buccal patch of Formulation 5 (TBP5) containing 400 mg of HPMC, 200 mg of Eudragit RL 100 have optimum bioadhesive strength, in-vitro residence time showed a release of 83.40 % after 15 hours and can meet the ideal requirement for sustained release buccal devices, which can be good way to bypass the extensive hepatic first pass metabolism and increase bioavailability. Keywords

Over last decade the number of prescriptions for opioid analgesics has been increased. Opioids are essential in the management of pain in many patients, but they are associated with the potential risks for abuse, overdose and mortality. There are number of efforts made in the development of abuse deterrent formulations of opioids to reduce these risks. These formulations deter or resist the abuse of opioid analgesics. Different types of abuse deterrent formulations of opioids have been or are currently being developed with the potential to reduce abuse and other risks associated with opioids. This article summarizes the potential for prescription opioid abuse, development of various abuse deterrent opioid formulations, patented abuse deterrent technologies and various abuse deterrent formulations currently in market. Keywords

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is the ability of a microbe to resist the effects of medication previously used to treat them. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines antimicrobial resistance as a microorganism's resistance to an antimicrobial drug that was once able to treat an infection by that microorganism. Though AMR is not a new problem but it is an accepted threat to the global health worldwide. It is important to realize that we are already seeing the impact of resistant infections in everyday life for example; many urinary tract infections are becoming resistant these days. A major area of concern is multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) that is resistant to the two most powerful anti-tuberculosis drugs. AMR is also influenced by the massive increases in trade and human mobility brought about by globalization. This article summarises how AMR is a global health threat, causes and mechanisms of AMR and how Pharmacist can help to tackle this problem. Keywords
