Kitul palm is one of the most beneficial palms to the humankind. Kitul Palm (Caryota urens) has a unique place in livelihood of tribal farmers of India. Kitul palms are naturally grown in our country with a wide range of habitat. It has several uses starts from extraction of sugary sap to beautifying landscapes. Incorporation of Kitul Palms in the Agroforestry system not only benefit the small, medium farmers by improving livelihoods, but also additional sources of income. This article reviews the distribution, ecology uses of Caryota urens and their importance of incorporation in Agroforestry systems.Keywords

The present study aimed to enumerate the ethno-medicinal uses of plants used by the Kurumba communities living around the Thalamalai Hills in Namakkal district. Medicinal uses of 89 plants belongs to 80 genera and 45 families were identifiedand recorded from the tribals with their botanical identities and method of drug preparations. All the information's related to the uses of the traditional medicinal plants were highlighted in this paper.Keywords
