The Effect of Martensite Phase Volume Fraction of Dual-Phase Steels on Acoustic Emission Signals Under Tensile Loading
In this study a new method is introduced to identify the mechanisms of crack initiation and failure in the various phases of Dual-Phase steels. For this aim Acoustic Emission monitoring has been used during tensile test of several dual phase steels with various volume fraction of the martensite second phase and attempted to relate the AE signals and various failure mechanisms in these steels. Different signals, which related to two mechanisms of failure, (because of martensite content in these types of steels) have been seen. By Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT) of signals in each peak of energy rate, it seems a good relationship between peak frequencies in these locations and mechanisms of failure in these steels.
