The benefit of ultrasonography (US) is multifold and exceptional since it uses non-ionizing radiation and therefore even unborn fetus may be exposed to it repeatedly. However, this unbridled use of US places greater responsibility on the proper functions of all its parameters. To break this notion and establish a viable quality assurance program in ultrasound imaging the authors carried out quality assurance tests on two US machines. This paper sums up the preliminary experience of these Quality Assurance tests.

Abstract

The benefit of ultrasonography (US) is multifold and exceptional since it uses non-ionizing radiation and therefore even unborn fetus may be exposed to it repeatedly. However, this unbridled use of US places greater responsibility on the proper functions of all its parameters. To break this notion and establish a viable quality assurance program in ultrasound imaging the authors carried out quality assurance tests on two US machines. This paper sums up the preliminary experience of these Quality Assurance tests.
