Subscribe/Renew Journal
The study examined the moderating role of emotional intelligence in adjustment and mental health of male and female adolescents witnessing frequent and intense inter-parental conflict. The sample comprised of 500 adolescents (270 males, 230 females) in the age group of 15-18 years. The Youth Self Report Inventory was used to assess adolescent adjustment problems and an Emotional Intelligence Scale was administered to study their Level of EQ. Results further revealed the moderating role of Emotional Intelligence in the link between adjustment problems and marital conflict. Results, using moderated multiple regression analysis, revealed that emotional quotient acted as a significant moderator in reducing the effect of inter-parental conflict on the adjustment problems of adolescents especially in female adolescents.
