Leg Shaking Stereotypy in the Visually Impaired:A Naturalistic Observation
Subscribe/Renew Journal
The objective of this study was to examine the frequency of leg-shaking, age and situational correlates in typically developing sighted and visually impaired samples. The study provided cross-sectional frequency estimates of legshaking of school and college students. A total of 1666 visually impaired (VI) and 4346 sighted (S) individuals were observed from grade one to grade ten in the classroom, examination and canteen settings. Overall, the results of this study showed marked differences between the visually impaired and the sighted groups. Significant differences were also found between settings. No ma or gender differences were found. The settings were an important variable that influenced leg-shaking behaviour.
