Background and Objectives: Dental caries is one of the most common problem encountered in pediatric patients. Despite modern advances in prevention of dental caries, many teeth are still lost prematurely leading to loss of function, esthetics, arch length and arch symmetry. Various restorative materials are available for the treatment of dental caries. Physical and mechanical tests were applied to analyze the structural designs of restorative materials. Various researches have been carried out in search of an ideal restorative material.
Hence, the present in-vitro study was done to evaluate and compare the mechanical properties(compressive strength,flexural strength and knoop microhardness) of Ceramic Reinforced Glass Ionomer Cement (Amalgomer CR) and Type IX GIC.
Results: The study showed a statistically significant difference in the compressive strength, flexural strength and knoop microhardness of ceramic reinforced glass ionomer cement (Amalgomer CR) and is superior when compared to Type IX GIC.
Conclusion: The study concluded that the mechanical properties (compressive strength, flexural strength and knoop microhardness) of ceramic reinforced glass ionomer cement (Amalgomer CR) is superior to Type IX GIC.

Background and Objectives: Dental caries is a common problem encountered in children. Deciduous teeth with deep dental caries can be treated with pulp therapies to allow normal exfoliation process. The process of pulpectomy involves access cavity preparation, cleaning and shaping of the ischolar_main canal and obturation. Even though all these procedures are essential, irrigation of the ischolar_main canal during cleaning and shaping is vital in ensuring complete microbial decontamination, which guarantees the success of pulpectomy. Although NaOCl is considered as gold standard among ischolar_main canal irrigants, the quest for a better irrigant with superior antimicrobial efficacy and biocompatibility was under consideration. Hence, the present ex vivo study was done to evaluate and compare the antimicrobial efficacy of 0.5% Sodium hypochlorite (Dakin’s solution) with 10% Triphala, a herbal ischolar_main canal irrigant. Results: The study showed a statistically significant difference in the anti-microbial efficacy of 10% Triphala and 0.5% Sodium hypochlorite (Dakin’s solution). Conclusion: The antimicrobial efficacy of 10% Triphala was better than that of 0.5% Sodium hypochlorite (Dakin’s solution) when used as ischolar_main canal irrigants in infected primary teeth.Keywords

Background and Aims: The success of an endodontic treatment depends on various factors and use of an ideal obturating material is one among that.
The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the radiographic success of different combinations of zinc oxide as an obturating material in pulpectomy of primary mandibular molars at three and six month intervals.
Treatment success or failure was determined by a combination of clinical and radiographic findings at three and six month intervals.
Results: The results at three and six months follow up yielded statistically significant reduction in size of radiolucency, whereas, the resorption rates of the ischolar_main and the different materials showed no statistical significance.
Conclusions: All the materials used in the study have potential obturating material property, which shows promising results in preserving the tooth in its dental arch.
