Anxiety is an unpleasant emotional state that consists of the feelings of fear, suspiciousness and restlessness. Self esteem refers to self evaluation. It is the way an individual feels about himself. Present study was undertaken to examine the difference between anxiety and self esteem among students of Private and Government schools. For that purpose Beck Anxiety Inventory and Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale were used. The sample consisted of 60 students (30 in each group) with age range 12- 15 years selected by means of purposive technique of sampling. Results indicated that students of private and government schools differ significantly in terms of anxiety and self esteem and socio economic status also plays an important role in determining one's self esteem and level of anxiety.Keywords
