The phenomena of line-spectra have been explained in the older quantum theory on the basis of Bohr's hypothesis

supported by other assumptions to bring in quantum numbers. The quantity V represented the frequency of the emitted radiation and was, according to the theory, unconnected with the motion of the electron although the latter is instrumental in giving rise to the radiation.

In the following paper we have been able, by replacing the continuous distribution in phase-space of the classical statistics by a sort of discontinuous distribution, to obtain the same sets of formulae as correspond to the classical, Bose-Einstein's and Fermi-Dirac's statistics. We have also given a modification of the latter (see equation (38)) which we believe will be applicable in all cases with proper values of λ*.- The Theory of Intermittent Action and Band-Spectra in Infra-Red

The theory of intermittent action has been developed in a series of papers,* by Kar and others. The problem of Band-Spectra in Infra-red has been solved with the help of this theory by Kar and Biswas in a paper in Zeitiehrift fur Phyiik, 1930, Ed. 59, 570. In the present paper we have used a different method to solve the problem and have further obtained the modifications for the energy-expression when the terms in x3 and X4 are included in the differential equation of motion of the anbarmonic oscillator.- Statistics of Photons and Planck's Radiation Formula
