Purpose: Prominence on organic foods is growing day by day as the awareness for health and environment is snowballing. Organic foods are more common in western countries but it is still in nascent stage in India. This paper attempts to find significant relationship of the predictors (knowledge about organic food, health concern and environmental concerns) on intentions to buy organic food. Structured questionnaire was administered to get responses using mall intercept survey method. A total of 204 responses came. Out of three independent variables under study namely knowledge, health concerns and environmental concerns, only two were found to affect the intention. The value of regression coefficients for environmental concern was lowest (b = 0.075, p>0.05) which means it is not having an impact on intentions directly. Health concern was found to have highest impact on intention b= .614, p<.05). The study is confined to Pondicherry area only but provides important information about intentions towards organic food. The study would be helpful for mall owners, Retail outlets, super markets and restaurants in identifying the significant predictors of intention to buy organic food of consumers. This paper revisits the applicability of predictors of intention to buy organic food in the proposed model in Indian context.Keywords

Bioeflicacy of carbendazim tolerant isolate of Trichoderma harzianum and exotic isolates of T. viride and T. virens were evaluated against dry ischolar_main rot pathogen of mungbean incited by Macrophomina phaseolina under glasshouse conditions. T. harzianum when applied to the soil besides being effective against the disease, increased seed germination by 96 per cent, plant height by 35.5cm and total biomass by 2.53 g/plant compared to T. viride and T. virens isolates. In addition, soil application of T. hazianum @ 5 g/kg and seed treatment @ 108 conidia/ml was found effective against dry ischolar_main rot pathogen. Integration of T. harzianum as soil application (5g/kg) + seed treatment (108C/ml) with sub-lethal doses of carbendazim (0.02%) significantly reduced dry ischolar_main rot incidence (95.3%) over soil treatment (91.5%) and seed treatment alone (86.5%).Keywords

Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki was as effective as monocrotophos (0.05%) in causing feeding cessation and mortality of Achaea janata (Linnaeus) on castor. However, it was ineffective against Spodoptera litura (Fabricius) larvae. Neem seed kernel extract (2%) resulted in ovipositional deterrence to S. litura.

The study is conducted among the internal and prospective employees of one selected hotel industry in Chennai. Most of the employees have opted to work in this company due to career development opportunities. The length of service has significant relationship with company's growth, company's concern towards welfare of employees, overall satisfaction. The overall job satisfaction is related to like team work, culture, interpersonal relationship and rewards. Happy employees tend to be committed towards the organization and will also refer the organization as career opportunity. This study is undertaken to understand whether brand exercise is possible in rice. The study is mainly focused on the price preference and switching behaviour of rice purchasers because the brand exercise is possible only when there is no perfect competition and price differentiation possible. The study is conducted among 150 rice Mandi owners in Chennai. The study results show that the preference for particular variety of rice is due to quality and switching also takes place only due to quality and the consumers are preferred to buy in 20-25 kg bags rather than loose quantities. This indicates that the branding is possible in rice also.Keywords
