"The health of my patient will be my first consideration." These words of Declaration of Geneva of the World Medical Association bind the physicians towards their duty to promote and safeguard the health of the people. With more awareness among consumers with respect to their rights, the medical fraternity has to be more vigilant while dealing with patient care. Respecting the well being of the patient in clinical practice and medical research is the need of the hour. World-over, it is now a widely accepted trend that the clinician should negotiate rather than dictate what is in the best interest of patients. Implied consent (Tacit Consent) is the most common form of agreement between doctor and patient for general examination but informed consent is must before any major diagnostic/therapeutic intervention. This article reviews the components of informed consent and its medico-legal significance in Indian scenario. Keywords

The alcoholism brings terrible consequences to the addict. Beside the known damages for the health, from cirrhosis to liver cancer, the alcohol is also harmful to spiritual and social health. The most dangerous is that the alcohol has been always considered as something sociable, always present in meetings, events, parties, and celebrations and even within our homes, without distinction of social class. The present paper reviews alcohol abuse, and its complications in the present scenario. Keywords

HIV/AIDS is spreading rapidly around the world. It is out of control in South Africa, and is now spreading massively in India. The population of India is growing at an enormous rate, and the spread of HIV/AIDS has become a matter of great concern for our nation. If necessary actions are not taken, HIV/AIDS can damage our whole economy. An attempt has been made in the present paper to highlights on psychological management of HIV/AIDS and interventional strategies. Research has also shown that awareness programs for HIV/AIDS and psychological management of HIV/AIDS are effective interventional programs for prevention of HIV infection.- Development of Continuous and Real Time Structural Health Monitoring of Aircraft Primary Structure through Embedded Carbon Nano Fiber Sensors

In this article, a new approach for structural health monitoring of aircraft primary structure has been dealt with, embedded carbon nano fiber (CNF) sensors. The multi-functional ability of non-conductive Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymers (GFRP) material is enhanced by addition of conductive CNF. An experimental investigation was carried out on bi-directional glass fiber to study the damage sensing capabilities of nano composite through embedded CNF mat-based sensor. In the study, CNF was dispersed in Poly Vinyl Alcohol (PVA) solution, and PVA-CNF sensor mat was developed by using electro-spinning process. This mat was embedded into the GFRP by using vacuum resin transfer moulding process at the design stage. CNF neither increases the weight of the composites nor affects its structural and mechanical properties. CNF sensor mat at various orientation and different wt% was embedded to the GFRP. The fabrications of specimens were done using bi-directional glass fiber with epoxy resin. Incremental tensile loading and unloading were conducted during test, and their corresponding electrical conductivity was monitored. The electrical resistance measurement of the embedded PVA-CNF mat is used to assess the structural weakness during mechanical test. Mechanical loading and the change in electrical resistance were directly correlated. Residual resistance measurements of the CNF mat were monitored during unloading condition for high stress (or strain). Accumulating damage to the composite material was calculated and correlated to the electrical resistance readings. The standard size of the coupons is 250x25x2 mm as per ASTM standard D3039.Keywords

The present paper attempts to examine correlates of HIV risk perception HIV/AIDS present a unique global challenge because at present there is no cure for it. WHO estimate that AIDS has killed more than 25 million people since it was first recognized in 1981, making it one of the most destructive epidemics in recorded history. In 2005 alone, AIDS claimed an estimated 3.1 million (between 2.8 and 3.6 million) of which more than half a million (570,000) were children (UNAIDS, 2005).Keywords

Adolescent suicidal ideation and its relationship to other variables was tapped by a self-report questionnaire administered to 88 high school seniors. Eighteen percent responded positively to the statement "sometimes I feel suicidal." Those who reported suicidal ideation were found to differ from those who did not on a number of variables, including family relationships (quality of relationship with mother, intimacy with parents, and closeness to siblings), family history of depression (maternal depression), peer relations (quality of peer relationships, popularity, and number of friends), emotional well-being (happiness, anger, and depression), drug use (cigarettes, marijuana, and cocaine), and grade point average. The present paper reviews the current trends of suicidal behaviors among youth, factors affecting suicidal behavior and possible solutions. Keywords

Stress among employees is a growing concern for the organisations nowadays. A stressed employee’s work performance and productivity decreases substantially. Therefore, an organization endeavoring to achieve its goals in the competitive business environment cannot afford to have a stressed workforce. The Bhagavad Gita is unutterably invaluable sermon delivered by Lord Krishna to Arjuna midst the battle of Kurukshetra. The Hindu religious text is rife with teachings to combat stress. The Bhagavad Gita is a remedy for all perturbation and stress. Srimad Bhagavad Gita provides a pragmatic approach to individuals to deal with apprehensions and stressors, one face every day. The state of perplexity, over what to do in a difficult situation faced by Arjuna, the mighty warrior, in the battlefield of Kurukshetra is faced by us all at some point in our life. This paper aims to focus on teachings from the revered text to help an individual combat stress and provides invaluable insights that can be absorbed from the holy narrative. Srimad Bhagavad Gita provides with following teachings to combat stress - A duty discharged without any attachment to the material existence and fruits keeps stress at bay. The actions associated with unappeasable desires and attachment brings suffering accompanied by stress and hinders progress. Renunciation leads to joy and peace owing to destruction of ignorance, which causes all pain, hardships and stress. A life not controlled by desires and anger is without stress and full of bliss. A regular practice of Yoga reduces stress. An individual tempted by materialistic desires lives a stressful life and suffers throughout. The path of righteousness brings peace and bliss to life. Lord Krishna explained to Arjuna that those who have divine qualities like the purity of heart, non-violence, truthfulness, peacefulness; modesty and other Godly traits are conducive to elevation and eventually attain spiritual perfection. Keywords
