Fluid handling equipment such as propellers, impellers, pumps posses the inherent risk of flow-dependent erosion-corrosion problems. Though there are many coating materials available to combat erosion-corrosion damage in the above components, iron based amorphous coatings exhibits high erosion-corrosion resistance. High velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) spray process is extensively used to deposit erosion-corrosion resistance amorphous coatings. In this investigation, iron based amorphous metallic coating was deposited on 316 stainless steel using HVOF spray process by varying the parameters such as oxygen flow rate, fuel flow rate, powder feed rate, carrier gas flow rate, and spray distance. Empirical relationships were established to predict the porosity and micro hardness of iron based amorphous coating. Microstructure observations of the coating were done by optical microscope. From the results, it is found that, fuel flow rate and spray distance appeared to be the most significant parameters affecting the mechanical properties of the iron based amorphous coating.Keywords

This investigation was carried out in Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore to test the bio efficacy of different seed dressing chemical on the management of sorghum shoot fly. The micro plot field experiments conducted in farm holdings at Chinnamatham palayam and Idikarai, Coimbatore District revealed the effectiveness of imidacloprid in checking shoot fly incidence by recording a mean minimum dead heart damage of 20 and 11 per cent in trial I and II, respectively. The experiments also showed maximum plant height of 39.2 and 39.7 cm in imidacloprid treated plots. In the laboratory, the assessment of seed dressing chemicals on the germination indicated maximum germination (92 %) of sweet sorghum seeds in imidacloprid treatment with maximum seedling vigour index (2401.2). Laboratory experiments showed no adverse effect of imidacloprid and thiamethoxam on seed germination.Keywords

Objective: The aim of this study was to Evaluation of altered temporomandibular disc position in symptomatic TMD patients with pre and post gnathological splint therapy.
Materials and Method: This study included ten patients with a mean age of 21.5 years with maxillary transverse deficiency treated with the skeletal expander. The study consisted of 15 patients with a mean age of 25 years with clinically symptomatic and orthodontically untreated TMD patients with splint therapy. Statistical analysis was performed using paired t‑test.
Results: The mean AS, SS, and PS values for right TMJ that was 0.2mm (SD ±0.6mm), 0.5mm(SD± 0.3mm), 0.4mm(SD±0.1mm), respectively and the mean difference between AS, SS, and PS values for left TMJ was 0.2mm (SD±0.1mm), 0.5mm (SD± 0.05mm), and 0.2mm (SD± 0.2mm). The ratio of AS to SS to PS was 0.2to 0.5to 0.4, No significant sex difference was noted in joint space distances. The results showed less variability of condylar position in the fossa than in normal subjects.
Conclusion: Gnathological splints can be used as effectiveness mean for treatment of such patients. This can be easy made good comfort to the patients.
