Lippia nodiflora, a perennial herb, has been reported to possess a number of pharmacological activities and used for various ailments. In the absence of systemic studies in the literature, the present study was designed to evaluate the hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic and antioxidant properties of Lippia nodiflora leaves extract in alloxan-induced experimental diabetic rats. The beneficial effects of oral administration of Lippia nodiflora leaves extract (400 mg/kg b.w.) on the levels of biochemical parameters were determined in experimental groups of rats. The altered levels of biochemical parameters such as blood glucose, insulin and glycosylated hemoglobin in the diabetic rats were significantly reverted back to near basal values by the administration of Lippia nodiflora leaves extract to diabetic rats for 30 days. The levels of lipid peroxides in the plasma and pancreatic tissues of diabetic rats were elevated significantly and were normalized by the administration of Lippia nodiflora leaves extract. The activities of pancreatic enzymic antioxidants and the levels of plasma non-enzymic antioxidants were markedly declined in the diabetic rats. Upon treatment with Lippia nodiflora leaves extract to diabetic rats, these decreased levels were elevated to near normal values. The altered levels of lipid profile were reverted back to near normalcy upon the extract treatment. The results of the study indicate that Lippia nodiflora leaves extract possesses antilipidemic, antioxidant effects in addition to antidiabetic activity. The results are comparable with gliclazide, an oral standard hypoglycemic drug. The phytochemicals present in the Lippia nodiflora leaves may account for the observed pharmacological properties.Keywords

Multiplication is a basic operation in most of the signal processing algorithms. Multipliers have large Area, long latency and consume considerable power. The purpose of a good multiplier is to provide a physically compact, good speed and should consume low power. In this paper speed of the IEEE 754 standard single precision floating point multiplier is increased by using compressors. Because compressors are special kind of adders to add more number of bits at a time. In this paper compressors are used for mantissa calculation. So that speed of the multiplier is increased as compared to the conventional multiplier. It is implemented using Verilog HDL and it is targeted to Xilinx virtex-5 FPGA.Keywords

Mobile Adhoc Network is an autonomous network formed by creating nodes and establishing wireless connections dynamically, so that messages in packets can be sent from a sender to receiver. The unique architecture of MANET offers several advantages and security challenges as passive and active attacks on the network. We discuss elaborately about the security attacks and two more popular security techniques, Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and Watchdog and Path rater (WPR). The two techniques are evaluated using two measures, viz., Availability Factor (AF) and Integrity Factor (IF). We present our results and our insights on suitability of a particular technique to a specific networking application. Our research is on-going and we indicate the extension possibilities that we are working upon.Keywords

This brief considers the problem of controller synthesis for interval system using the method of order reduction technique and model matching concept. The order reduction is accomplished by using the combined benefits of approximate generalized time moment (AGTM) matching and optimization procedure. Luus-Jaakola (LJ) optimization procedure is used for minimizing the performance index subject to the constraints. Using this method, controller of any order can be obtained with guaranteed stability and performance. The illustrated example demonstrates the effectiveness of the projected method.Keywords
