Abstract

Two new species of Kudoa Meglitsch, 1947 (Multivalvulida, Kudoidae), viz., Kudoa kalae sp.n. a quadrate type and Kudoa hoffmani sp.n. a stellate type from the gallbladder of fishes Arius arius and Arius crosscheilus (Arridae) respectively collected from Sundarban coast of West Bengal, India have been described.

Abstract

Seven new myxosporeans (Myxozoa : Bivalvulida) have been described from marine fishes collected from the Bay of Bengal off West Bengal coast, India. These are Ceratomyxa lizae sp. n. from the gallbladder of Liza parsia, Myxobolus praeustuseas sp. n. from the liver of Carangoides praeustuseas, Myxodavisia sonae sp. n. from the gallbladder of Arius sona, Pseudoalataspora scomberomorusi sp.n. from the gallbladder of Scomberomorusus sp., Sphaerospora johnae sp.n. from the kidney tubule of Johnius bengalirii, Zschokkella coelatusi from the gallbladder of Arius coelatus, and Zschokkella mystae sp.n. from the gallbladder of Mystus gulio.

Abstract

Ceratomyxa macrovalvula sp.n. and Ceratomyxa cylindrobiconica sp. n. (Myxosporea : Ceratomyxidae) have been described from the gallbladder of Arius sagor and A. sona respectively (Ariidae) collected from the Bay of Bengal off West Bengal coast, India. These two Ceratomyxa spp. have been compared with their related Ceratomyxa species.

Abstract

Seven new species of Myxosporidia (Myxozoa : Myxosporea), Zschokkella channae sp. n. from the kidney tubule of Channa punctatus (Ham.) and Zschokkella 'cirrhinae sp. n., Myxidium menodae sp. n., Myxidium alluum sp. n., Sphaeromyxa diacanthusa sp. n., Sphaeromyxa chacundae sp. n., and Ceratomyxa nengae sp. n. from tlie gall bladders of Aorichthys menoda menoda (Sykes), Wa//ago attu (Schn.), Protonebia diacunthus (Lacepede), Anodontosioma chacunda (Ham-Buch.) and Tashysurus nenga (Ham.) respectively have been described in this communique. These new species have been compared with their related species to establish their distinctiveness.

Abstract

Four new species of Ceratomyxa (Bivalvulida : Ceratomyxidae), viz. Ceratomyxa lactariasae sp. n., C. sardinae sp. n., C. sihamae sp. n. and C. baybanga sp. n. have been described from gallbladders of fishes Lactarius lactarius, Sardinella longiceps, Sillago sihama and Arias arias respectively. These myxosporeans have been compared with the related Ceratomyxa species and considered new to science.
