The seed samples of D. sissoo were collected from 58 CPTs representing 7 seed sources of U.P. These samples were studied to evaluate different parameters viz. length, breadth, thickness, shape index (l/b ratio), seed weight, viability and germination percentage. Significant variation was observed between seed sources and studied parameters. On the basis of over all performance, the seed sources can be grouped in descending order as Mathura > Etawah > Kanpur > Ramnaghar > Lucknow > Haldwani > Mau. The performance of some CPTswas found poor with low values of viability and germination. Hence, these ePTs must be avoided for future collections. However, seeds from better CPTs could he used for further genetic improvement programmes.- Comparative Development of Multiple Seedlings in Different Seed Sources of Azadirachta indica A. Juss

The occurrence of multiple seedlings were observed in Neem (Azadirachta indica) during the germination studies in different Seed Sources of seeds. In the case of Neem the emergence of multiple seedlings is not due to polyembryony but due to sowing of seeds along with the endocarp of fruit not kernel. Each endocarp encloses 1-4 seeds in it. However, in the present study it differs in different Seed Sources.- Studies on Germination of Neem (Azadirachta indica A.juss.) Seeds at Different Temperature and Substrates

Laboratory studies were conducted to determine the, effect of different temperatures and subtrates for germination of Neem (Azadirachta indica, A. Juss.) seeds. These two factors significantly influenced the germination of this species. Among all the combinations of test the maximum germination per cent and Mean Daily Germination (MDG) was obtained at 30°C, on top of the paper (TP) in 24 days. The 30°C on between the paper was also found to be equally effective for germination per cent and MDG of seeds. Temperature 20°C was not favourable for germination in comparison to other temperatures and substrates.- Silvi-pastoral System for Development of Degraded Lands

Under the present investigation suitable silvipasture model has been developed for large scale planting of fodder tree-grass combination in saline-alkali soils of U.P. Three tree species viz. Leucaena leucocephala, Albizia lebbek and Cassia siamea along with forage grasses like Brachiaria mutica, Panicum maximum and Chloris gayana were planted in spacement of 4.0m × 2.50m (Tree spp.) and 0.50m × 0.50m (Grass spp.), respectively. The results revealed considerable improvement of the entire system with huge amount of fodder biomass production.- Effect of Soil and Foliar Application of Nutrients on Growth and Yield in Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.)
