The main objective of the study to evaluate the Anti-depressant activity of seeds extract of Avena sativa in Forced swim test (FST), Tail Suspension test (TST) and antagonism of Apomorphine induced hypothermia in mice. Phytochemical screening showed presence of carbohydrates, alkaloids, flavanoids, steroids, glycosides, saponins, amino acids, gums and mucilage. MSEAS did not produce any lethal effect even upto 2000mg/kg, p.o during Acute Oral Toxicity study. In FST and TST, MSEAS showed diminution of duration of immobility time in 100mg/kg but not in 200mg/kg. In antagonism of Apomorphine induced hypothermia model, Desipramine but not both doses of MSEAS significantly antagonised the Apomorphine induced hypothermia. From the above finding concluding that, shortening of immobility time in the FST and TST indicating, MSEAS showed antidepressant activity acting either by the enhancement of central 5-HT or catecholamine neurotransmission and Antagonism of Apomorphine induced Hypothermia indicating, MSEAS was not acting through Adrenergic system.Keywords

The purpose of this study was to formulate and evaluate an efficient Isradipine extended release matrix tablets designed to provide 24 hours drug release profile using varying proportion of hydrophilic polymers viz; Lactose monohydrate and HEC as matrix-forming material. Prepared matrix tablets showed satisfactory physicochemical properties where drug content was 98.24% to 101.06 %, thickness was 3.33 mm to 3.55 mm, hardness was 7.52±0.171 to 8.94±0.285 kg/cm2 , friability was less than 1% and % weight variation was within the standard pharmacopoeial limits of ±7.5% of the weight. Mathematical analysis of the release kinetics of the optimized formulation (F15) was best fitted in zero order kinetics (R2 = 0.9743). The dissolution profiles of formulation F15 and innovator product in multi media were compared in pH 4.5 acetate buffer, pH 6.8 phosphate buffer, 0.1N HCl respectively. The stability data reveals that the F15 showed a negligible change in drug content after storage in various conditions for two months according to ICH guidelines.Keywords

Objective: To investigate Antidepressant activity of aqueous and methanolic leaf and shoot extracts of Ageratum conyzoides plant in mice.
Methods: The Antidepressant activity of aqueous and methanolic leaf and shoot extracts of Ageratum conyzoides plant were tested by Forced Swim Test (FST) and Tail Suspension Test (TST) in albino mice and the results were compared for the both extracts. Imipramine was used as the standard drug for comparison.
Results: Phytochemical screening showed presence of carbohydrates, alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, phenols, cardiac glycosides. AEAC (Aqueous Extract of Ageratum conyzoides) and MEAC (Methanolic Extract of Ageratum conyzoides) did not produce any lethal effect even upto 2000mg/kg, p.o during Acute Oral Toxicity study. In FST (Forced swim test) and TST (Tail Suspension test), AEAC (Aqueous Extract of Ageratum conyzoides) showed diminution of duration of immobility time in 200mg/kg but not in 100mg/kg.
Conclusion: From the above investigations, concluding that, shortening of immobility time in the FST and TST indicating, AEAC showed more antidepressant activity acting either by the enhancement of central 5-HT or catecholamine neurotransmission compared to MEAC (Methanolic Extract of Ageratum conyzoides) in mice.

Developing oral extended release tablets for highly water soluble drugs with constant release rate has always been a challenge to the pharmaceutical technologist. The present work is focused on controlling the release of highly water soluble Alfuzosin HCl from hydrophylic matrices prepared using hypermellose.
Alfuzosin HCl tablets were prepared by direct compression method using hypermellose polymer to control release of highly water soluble drug alfuzosin HCl which is having short half life primarily used as antihypertensive drug. The formulations developed from F1 to F8 .With in these formulations F8was found to have optimised drug release of 86% for 20 hours, the kinetic release studies were conducted for the optimised formulation and the best fit model was found to be Higuchi( diffusion ) model.

Objective: To investigate Anthelmintic Activity of the Chloroform and Aqueous Extracts of leaves of Couroupita guianensis on Pheretima posthuma by Worm Motility Assay Method
Methods: The Anthelmintic activity of the Aqueous and Chloroform Extracts of Leaves of Couroupita guianensis on Pheretima posthuma by Worm Motility Assay Method and the results were compared for the both extracts. Anthelmintic activity is compared with standard drug Albendazole.
Results: The chloroform extract showed better anthelmintic activity at a concentration of 200 mg/ml, whereas the aqueous extract also showed paralysis and death at similar concentrations against Indian earth worms. The other test concentrations of both the extracts showed marked degree of anthelmintic activity. The anthelmintic effect of extracts is comparable with that of the effect produced by the standard drug albendazole.
Conclusion: From the above finding concluding that, the plant possesses significant anthelmintic activity at 200 mg/ml concentration measured by time taken for paralyse / death of the earth worms. The current investigation leads to conclusion that the leaves of Couroupita guianensis have potent anthelmintic activity when compared with the conventionally used drug

Objective: To investigate mosquito repellent activity of Polyherbal Formulations of Extraction of Annona squamosa, Azadirachta indica, Eucalyptus alba, Citrus aurantium and Rosa indica and their phytochemical analysis. Methods: The mosquito repellent activity of the Aqueous and ethanolic Extracts of Annona squamosa, Azadirachta indica, Eucalyptus alba, Citrus aurantium and Rosa indica by rabbit ear method and human bite method, the results were compared for the both extracts. Mosquito repellent activity is compared with standard drug Odomos. Results: The plant possesses significant mosquito repellant activity at higher concentrations of 7.5% and10.0 % w/w respectively. The mosquito repellant effect of extracts is comparable with that of the effect produced by the standard drug odomos. Conclusion: From the above finding concluding that, the plant possesses significant mosquito repellant activity at higher concentrations of 7.5% and10.0%w/w respectively. Conclude that the polyherbal cream formulation is comparatively effective to that of standard drug i.e., Odomos which also require further research regarding pharmacological screening for its further development and use.

Face cream is a cosmetic cream applied to face to improve the complexion Main objective is to prepare and evaluate a stable poly herbal multipurpose face cream which is made by the aqueous extract of different herbs such as Vetiveria zizanioides, Crocus sativus, Symplocos racemosa, Pterocarpus santalinus, Rubia cordifolia, Chamaecostus cuspidatus, Cinnamomum tamala, Butea monosperma, Curcuma caesia, Brassica nigra Koch, Aganosoma hiyne, Mesua ferrae, Ficus Benghalensis, Glycerrhizia glabra, Mesua ferrae, Laccifer lacca and formulated different formulations by varying the polymers and base compositions. The evaluations of all formulations (F1 toF5) were done on different parameters like organoleptic properties, pH and stability etc. Formulations F1 to F5 good consistency, homogeneity, appearance, pH, no evidence of phase separation and ease of removal. Stability studies for conducted for all these formulation and gave good results.Keywords
