The Explanatory Model Interview Catalogue (EMIC) was adapted, standardized, and translated into Kannada for a cultural study of depression. The Structured Clnical Interview for DSM-III - R (SCID) and Combined Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression and Anxiety (HDARS ) were also translated and used. The interrater reliability of all three was good. The clinical ethnographic database generated by the EMIC integrates quantitative and qualitative data with respect to patterns of distress, perceived causes, help seeking and general illness beliefs. The majority of patients studied emphasized somatic complaints and were concerned about personal and family stigma. "Nerves" were most frequently cited as most important perceived cause. Few patients were satisfied with the allopathic help most had received previously. Questions about madness, considered distinctly different from their own problems, elicited a pattern of responses resembling their own problems. Complementary use of the EMIC and instruments like SCID and HDARS provides a method for cross-cultural research that integrates personal experience and professional concepts of illness. Keywords

Semen loss related psychological distress is deemed to be a common culture-bound preoccupation among patients in the Indian sub-continent. It has been argued that such a perception is reflective of the unusual emphasis placed on the qualities of semen in ancient Ayurvedic treatises. A broader historical view of these ideas reveals that concerns about semen loss and its consequences have been voiced consistently, both in European as well as Asian cultures. While Ayurvedic systems caution against loss of semen and argue for its conservation, the emphasis in the West has been on delineating its adverse physical and psychological sequelae. The need to examine such variations across cultures on wider explanatory frameworks is outlined. Keywords

Background---Face recognition within the classrooms in the challenging task in the field of Face detection system. Event of the certain detection process represents the various parameters such as, skin color, pixel range. The proposed work implies the tracking of the students which is followed by the automatic attendance system that implies in the automatic attendance using the face recognition technique. More images can be analyzed using the deep learning methods which yield the presence of student and automatic attendance can be registered. This can lead towards change in automatic attendance system with the accurate prediction.
Method---The face recognition depends upon the basic image processing techniques. The image acquisition stage involves the collection of database as in the video format or in the live data stream. The pre-processing stage is carried out using the background subtraction technique using the binary conversion technique. Histogram optical flow and Local Binary pattern is carried out for the segmentation of face images. Features are extracted and stored from the segmentation process. Training process is carried out using Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) classifier.
Results---The trained and the tested phase of the proposed work maintains the accuracy rate of 87.63% with the reduction in the sensitivity and the specificity range of 72.5 and 86.2% . The experimental results is carried out using the MATLAB domain which use the OS generic platform that yields the lesser error rate and higher accuracy of classification.
