Invitro anti-mutagenic potential of different extracts/fractions of Potentilla fulgens has been made by an Ames histidine reversion assay using TA98 and TA100 tester strains of Salmonella typhimurium against the direct-acting mutagens, 4-Nitro-O-phenylenediamine (NPD) and Sodium azide. P. fulgens has been used in traditional system of medicine as anti-hyperglycemic, hypoglycemic, anti-hyperlipidemic, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-ulcerogenic agent. Results indicated that n-butanol and water fractions showed strong inhibition activity against the mutagens (NPD, Sodium azide) in both co-incubation as well as pre-incubation treatments in TA98 and TA100 tester strains.- Pump Sharing Hybrid Optical Amplifier in the Scenario of C+L Band Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexed System

In this work, we investigated C+L Band Hybrid optical amplifier (HOA) by pump sharing to provide cost efficient systems. Two different configuration of HOAs have been proposed to achieve better performance using pump sharing concept. One technique uses FBG in the system and other isolators in order to provide maximum gain and gain flatness. Further evaluation of 32 x 10 Gbps WDM system has been done in terms of maximum Gain and noise figure (NF) by utilizing different HOA. Evaluation of different techniques is carried out by analyzing Q-factor and bit error rate (BER) along with gain flatness and noise figure (NF).Keywords

The methods to enhance the performance of communication systems is on the rise. New innovations are required to achieve improved performance. As radio frequency (RF) power amplifier (PA) is one of the important block of communication system, so any improvement in the PA performance will definitely contribute to increase the overall communication system performance. PA is a non-linear device. To increase its performance, one has to linearize its response. For this various linearized techniques are available. So this paper gives an overview of the linearized techniques, which can be used to increase the PA performance by mitigating the non-linear effects. A comparative performance analysis of the linearized techniques have been done in this paper to find out the most suitable technique for wireless communication. Keywords

The present study explored the potential use of brain anti-oxidative enzymes as pollution biomarkers in fish Labeo rohita. Experiments were conducted to see the neurotoxic effects of dye Basic violet-1 on fish brain enzymes such as lactate dehydrogenase, alkaline phosphatase and acid phosphatase. Acute toxicity tests were performed for 96 hrs with dye concentrations of 0.2 (LC20), 0.4 (LC40), 0.6 (LC60), 0.8 (LC80) and 1 (LC100) mg/l to study biochemical changes. Behavioural observations were also recorded. Recovery experiments were run for 15 and 30 days. Exposure to the dye adversely affects the brain of the fish as evidenced by altered swimming behavior. Significant dose and duration-dependent increase in enzyme activity was recorded for alkaline phosphatase and acid phosphatase while lactate dehydrogenase activity showed a decrease when compared to the control. Lactate dehydrogenase was found to be a maximally affected enzyme as the percentage change over control is 301.26%. The results indicate prolonged neurotoxic effects of the dye as indicated by the altered swimming behaviour and enzymatic profile of fish. The present study recommends the use of L. rohita as sentinel species in water quality studies and supports the incorporation of fish biochemical profiles as a biomarker in water/ wastewater monitoring programs. Keywords
