The wear performance of a nano hybrid aluminum metal matrix composite was investigated in this study with a special emphasis on the impact of heat treatment on dry sliding behaviour. The hybrid composite was made with Al 2219 alloy as the matrix phase, 2% nano boron carbide (nB4C) as the principal reinforcement, and 2% molybdenum sulphide (MoS2) as additive using the stir casting technique. At room temperature, Pin-on-Disc equipment was utilized to carry out the task of varying sliding distance and load. Wear rates were assessed and further improvised using Box-Behnken design of response surface methodology. It was found that most significant parameter was sliding distance followed by load and aging temperature. 500m sliding distance, 10N load, and 240oC aging temperature were the optimal conditions for minimum wear rate.Keywords
