The paper presents the retrospective analysis of 25 years of wind speeds and power prediction using numerical whether prediction model at a complex terrain site in Kerala. The simulated data from the model has been validated using on-site/observed data for the same location obtained from C-WET mast. The model has been fine tuned so as to bring it closer to the observed value by using variance and bias. It is felt that by blending the best of direct onsite measurements with the atmospheric model techniques will give a reliable, credible and comprehensive understanding of the wind resources which will help in maximizing the performances of the wind farms developed in complex terrains with reference to the Indian context thus mitigating the risk of underperformance.Keywords

In order to locate a 150m wind monitoring tower to measure the wind characteristics, we investigated the site near Paradip, Odisha (India) to locate wind tower and collected some wind data to incorporate into the design of tubular steel tower. This paper seeks to understand the design of tubular steel tower and its performance parameter up to 150m height, also it provides the stability analysis such as static, buckling and vibration using computer optimized approach. The main objective of this paper is to explore more wind potential by measuring the wind data at 150m height and to locate a safe and economic tower at this location, it will produce more power output and would boost the economy of India in a very rapid manner which is the current major issue of our society.Keywords
