Abstract

The anthropometric profile and the growth status of children belonging to urban slums has been reported to be poor in the states surveyed by the NNMB. In a recent study reported by Gnanasundram and Santhanakrishnan in the urban slums in Madras, the incidence of Bitot's spots was found to be 2.8 percent and 4.15 percent infants were found to suffer from severe malnutrition.

Abstract

Marriage is a social union or legal contract between people that creates kinship. In today's day to day life even the concept of marriage varies from individual to individual. Marriage is also a very strong bond between two people. In arrange marriage the marriages are arranged by parents or guardians or any other relative while on other hand in some marriages the choice of life partner is of one who is getting married. This type of marriage is known as love marriage. Social support is the physical and emotional comfort given to us by our family, friends and others. It is a very important factor for successful marriage, it helps in operating stress and coping process. Thus high social support leads to marital harmony and low social support and unsuccessful marriage leads to marital burnout. The present aim of the study was to study the effect of type of marriage (love & arrange marriage) and social support on marital harmony amongst the spouses. The sample of the present study form 200 married couple, in which 100 males were divided according to type of marriage that is 50 arranged married and 50 love marriage, as well as for females. Collected data was computerized statistically in terms of significant difference with Type of marriage on various dimensions of social support and marital harmony. There was significant interactive effect of type of marriage (arranged & love marriage) and social support upon total marital harmony. Thus it can be concluded that couples who were in love marriage with high social support have more marital harmony in comparison to couples who are in love marriage with low social support, arranged marriage with high social support and arranged marriage with low social support.

Abstract

Most of the social, psychological and emotional problems are related to unrelieved stress. If there is stress beyond the optimal level it can hamper the functioning of the individual. Identifying unrelieved stress and being aware of its effect on our lives is not sufficient for reducing its harmful effects. Just as there are many sources of stress, there are many possibilities for its management. The present study was undertaken to find out the correlation of stress and emotional intelligence among college going girls. A sample of 300 students was taken from a college of Jaipur city. They were administered Stress scale by Puri et al. and Mangal Emotional Intelligence Inventory. The total score of emotional intelligence is negatively significantly correlated with all the factors of stress as well as overall stress score. People who are emotionally intelligent are in control of their emotions and their behavior. Hence the level of stress would be naturally less in people with high emotional intelligence.

Abstract

An investigation was carried out to study the effect of various levels of N and P on growth and yield of banana cv. Grand Naine in first ratoon crop at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. The treatments consisted of six levels of nitrogen at 150, 200 (in 4 and 5 splits), 250 (in 4 and 5 splits) and 300 g (in 5 splits) per plant as urea, phosphorus at 60 and 90 g per plant as single super phosphate. Application of N and P at the rate of 200 g N in 5 splits + 60 g P₂O₅ per plant to ratoon crop of banana cv. Grand Naine proved to be the best among all treatment combinations. This also resulted in maximum plant growth, early shooting and fruit maturity. In addition, the fruit yield per plant (18.9 kg) was maximum with the above mentioned treatment. Finger length increased with increase in dose of N from 150 g to 200 g per plant.

Abstract

Configuration Management is the discipline of controlling the occurrence of changes in the complex systems. In Software Development Life Cycle, Configuration Management is generally known as Software Configuration Management (SCM).

In this paper we will discuss about how Software Configuration Management (SCM) is used to plan, organise, control and coordinate the identification, storage and change of software through development, integration and transfer. However, the project is how large or small Software configuration management (SCM) has a critical effect on quality of the project. SCM uses some Elements for efficient development and maintenance, so that the integrity of the software will never be compromised. It also uses SCM Toolsets for configuration management. Basically, this paper shows that how efficiently SCM works and tackles the changes in the software development.

Abstract

Research on happiness seems to be blooming in current academics. Psychology's engagement with psychopathology left no space for this concept to come to the fore. With rapid changes in the academic world, together with the shift in the focus towards more positive concepts has resulted in a renewed interest in the concept of happiness. The domain of qualitative research seeks to explore the diverse human experiences and the present study uses this domain to understand the subjective meaning of happiness in adolescent students. Using a qualitative approach, twenty adolescents were asked to share their life experiences using a semi structured interview schedule. A grounded theory analysis revealed that happiness forms a core concern for an individual where it depends not only on the cultural norm involving an individual where social relationships form an important part, but also goals and aims (s) he/she wishes to achieve in life. It exists in temporality but is impacted by the larger dimension of meaning in life which is relatively stable and covers a huge expanse of an individual's existence. Finding happiness in life involves both personal goals such as self growth and attainment of peace, and also professional goals like fulfilment of one's academic aim. Happiness is also seen as being impacted by an individual's past happenings, belief in self-worth and social responsibility. Analysis of the findings thus points to the fact that meaning of happiness varies across individuals, however, the essence remains the same for a given culture. The consideration of the emic approach not only creates sound knowledge, but also leads to a holistic understanding of human affairs.
