In this paper, comparative analysis of computed and measured lateral profiles of electric field distribution at maximum sag point has been done for the existing 765 kV AC transmission line located at northern region of India. Computations were carried out by using developed MATLABTM Program. Measurements were carried out by using electric field meter designed in CPRI. Right of way is also determined for both computed and measured values of electric field based on safety limits given by Central Electricity Authority (CEA). Measured quantities compared with computed electric field. From the obtained results it is observed that, measured right of way is almost matching with computed right of way and there are few differences between computed and measured values. Possible reasons are explained for the causes of differences. Keywords
