The herbaceous undergrowth under natural sholas was found qualitatively most rich and unique species composition. Eucalyptus planlatlon. Supported a good undergrowth both qualitatively and quantitatively, while pines have Much less undergrowth. A good grass cover Was found under Eucalyptus with a biomass of 998.6 ± 65.3 kg ha-1; tbe total biomass (kg ha-1) of herbs under the three forest covers were 445.8 ± 55.7 (Sbolas), 1135.1 ± 484 (Eucalyptus) and 54.7 ± 8.85 (plnes).

This paper attempts to analyse the growth and development of web-resources in INSPEC database during 1995-2005. A total of 18673 publications appeared in 171 web-resources contributed by the scientists in various areas of research: Physics (11076), Computers-and-Control-Technology (5524), Electrical-and- Electronic-Engineering (2050) and Information Technology (23). The highest number of publications in web-resources in INSPEC database were from USA with 8364 (44.79%) publications followed by Italy with 4342 (23.25%) publications and UK with 1967 (10.53%) publications. The publications in web-resources have started appearing in the INSPEC database since 1995 with six publications. The highest number of publications in web-resources published were 3603 in 2003. The average number of publications in webresources published per year were 1698. The top websites were http://jhep.cern.ch with 2798 publications followed by http://www.siam.org with 2744 publications and http://www.opticsexpress.org with 1962 publications. The websites with the domain name .org have published 9645 followed by .ch with 2902 publications and .it with 1544 publications. More than 99.3 percent of publications in web-resources were in English. More than 92.1 percent of the publications in web-resources were published in journals followed by conference papers (7.9%). The most preferred web-journals by the scientists were JHEP-Journal-of-High- Energy-Physics with 4342 publication followed by Optics-Express with 2513 publications and Physical- Review-Special-Topics-Accelerators-and-Beams with 507 publications.Keywords

Scientrometric analysis of 1044 papers published by the scientists of Radiochemistry Division at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) during 1958-2005 in diverse domains: Actinide Chemistry (358), Analytical Chemistry (220), Nuclear Chemistry (215), Miscellaneous (148), Actinide Spectroscopy (55), High Temperature Superconductivity (27) and TL/ESR Dosimetry (21) was carried out for year wise productivity, authorship pattern and collaboration. The highest number of publications were 64 produced in 2005. The average number of publications per year was 21.75. The highest collaboration coefficient 1.0 was found during 1958, 1961-1967, 1970,1973-1982, 1984-1985, and 1991-2005.
The most prolific authors were: M. D. Sastry (143), V. K. Manchanda (118), S. B. Manohar (98), J. P. Shukla (86), Satya Prakash (81), J. N. Mathur (80), S. K. Patil (80), A. Goswami (70), M. S. Subramnian (70), R. H. Iyer (68), and M. V. Ramaniah (67). The core journals preferred for publishing were: Radiochimica Acta (104), Journal of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry (63), Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry (60), Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry Articles (58), Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry letters (40), and Physical Review C (40). Publication concentration was 6.06 and publication density was 5.27. Top ranking journals publishing Radiochemistry Division publications were from Netherlands (371), England (229), USA (162), Germany (140), India (82), and Switzerland (23).

The highest number of publications were 61and 58 produced in 1997 and 2003 respectively. Average number of publications per year was 22.62. Highest collaboration coefficient 1.0 was in 1987, 1991, 1992,1996, and 1998.
The most prolific authors were M. Sudersanan (137), P.K. Mathur (76), R. G. Dhaneshwar (54), R. Parthasarathy (47), S. Gangadharan (46), M. M. Palrecha (46), M. Sankar Das (44), and A. K. This Scientometric study analyses the publications of Nuclear Physics Division at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. There were 257 research papers published during 2003-2008 in diverse domains of nuclear physics: Nuclear Reactions and Spectroscopy (78), High Energy Physics and Quark Gluon Plasma (58), Interdisciplinary Research and Applications (29), Intermediate Energy Reactions (27), Theoretical Research (23), Nuclear Fission (22), Detectors and Nuclear Instrumentation (14) and Accelerators and Instrumentation (6). The highest number of publications (51) was in the year 2006. The average number of publications per year was 42.83. The most prolific authors were: Choudhury R.K. (81), Mohanty A.K. (60), Dutta D. (57) and Kailas S. (45). The publications of Nuclear Physics Division were spread over 42 journals. The leading journals preferred by the scientists of Nuclear Physics Division were Physical Review- C with 75 publications, Physical Review Letters with 38 publications, Nuclear Physics- A with 22 publications, Pramana - Journal of Physics with 18 publications, European Physical Journal- A with 11 publications and Physics Letters- B with 10 publications. The paper analyses the citations to the publications of Vikram Sarabhai, using Science Citation Index 1944-1991as the source for data. The extent of citations received,in terms of the number of citations per paper and the categories of citing documents and the distribution of citations among them are determined. Analysing the year-wise break up of citations, the peak periods are identified. The extent of citations to the papers in each domain and the citation pattern in relation to the status of authorship are examined. Types of documents citing Sarabhai's publications are identified. The citing journals are identified and ranked list of them is prepared. Distribution of citations and citing journals according to disciplines are made to asses the impact of Sarabhai's research on other disciplines. By studying the distribution of citations among journals, the Bradford Multiplier is calculated and Bradford-Zipf citograph is plotted. Ten highly cited papers of Sarabhai have been identified. Prominent scientists citing Sarabhai's publications are identified.The time-lag between publication of a paper and it receiving its first citation is estimated.Keywords

Electronic journal facilitates dissemination of research results in less time at low cost and offer universal accessibility flexibility and interactivity. There are a number of journals on the Internet, which are accessible absolutely free. Libraries should select suchjoumals, evaluate them and make them available to their user community through their local websites. Characteristics of one such journal Library Philosophy and Practice have been studied. Library Philosophy and Practice (http://www. uidaho.edu/-mbolinlIp&p.htm) is a peer-reviewed and free electronic journal. The general features of the journal like: format, layout, accessibility, subject coverage, collaboration pattern, usage of illustrations, referencing style, extent to which electronic resources were cited in the text as well as in the references sections, and their categorywise accessibility is documented. The general layout and format of the journal is attractive. Topics covered included technical issues such as collection development, technical services, information technology, information skills, citation analysis, etc. Only two papers were multi-authored, while the remaining 17 papers were single-authored. Out of 52 linked electronic resources in the text 94.2 %, and out of 45 linked electronic resources in the references sections 84.4 % could be accessed. Out of 19 papers studied, 8 papers had a total of 7 figures, 7 tables, 6 appendices, 4 charts, and one slide show presentation in PowerPoint. The electronic resources were categorized according to their contents into home pages, personal papers, emails, documents, electronic journals, local files, exhibits, FAQs, journal lists, press releases, newsletters, catalogues, encyclopedia, help pages, magazines, news service, reports, and syllabi.- References in the texts and in the references sections were: (47.4 %) home pages, 21.6 % personal papers and, 31 % belonging to other categories.Keywords

Scientometric analysis of 190 publications by Harold W. Kroto, the Nobel laureate in Chemistry (1996) published during 1985 - 2000 in domains: Fullerenes (109), Cluster Science (39), Spectroscopy of Unstable Species and Reaction Intermediates (8), Astrophysics (16), and Non Carbon Nanostructures (18) were analysed for authorship pattemwith his 181 collaborators. Highest collaborations were with D. R. M. Walton (142), R. Taylor (90), J. P. Hare (60), K. Hsu (53), M. Terrones (48), A.D. Darwish (36), P.R. Birkette (35) and H. Terrone (35). His productivity coefficient was 0.68 which clearly indicates that his productivity increased after 50 percentile age of his 16 years of research publication career. His highest collaboration coefficient (1.00) was found in 1985,1993,1995,1996,1998 - 2000. Publication concentration was 4.5 and publication density was 3.05. Average Bradford multiplier was 3.5. The core journals publishing his papers were: J. Chern. Soc. Chern. Commun.(23). Chern. Phys. Lett. (20), J. Chem .Soc. Perkin Trans.-2 (15). and Nature (10) out of 59 journal and 13 other channels. Most prolific keywords in titles were: C60IFullerenes/[60] Fullerene/Buckrninsterfullerene, C70/[70] Fullerenes, Fonnation, and Characterisation.Keywords

Although the organizational Web structure and its content vary from library to library, personnel involved in library Web projects need to be familiar with the concepts and terminology associated with creating documents and resources of the Web.
A library Website is by nature a vehicle of digital library services. This article discusses various aspects of planning and designing a comprehensive library Website.
