Pregnancy in women with pulmonary hypertension stresses the already compromised cardiovascular system and is associated with very high peripartum mortality. Though the mode of delivery is decided by obstetric factors the optimal anaesthetic management is either controversial or inconclusive. We present a case of a parturient with primary pulmonary hypertension who underwent caesarean section under general anaesthesia with good maternal and neonatal outcome

Abstract

Pregnancy in women with pulmonary hypertension stresses the already compromised cardiovascular system and is associated with very high peripartum mortality. Though the mode of delivery is decided by obstetric factors the optimal anaesthetic management is either controversial or inconclusive. We present a case of a parturient with primary pulmonary hypertension who underwent caesarean section under general anaesthesia with good maternal and neonatal outcome
