This paper, in part expository, grew out of lectures delivered by the author at the Institute of Mathematics, Central University, Hyderabad, India during Summer 1987, on ultrapowers and nonlinear analysis in infinite dimensional Banach Spaces. Several new results are added, some of which have not appeared in print so far, to the best knowledge of the author.
