A Star Whose Irregular Packing is Denser than Its Lattice Packing

Let S be the star domain y2 - 3x2 ≤ 1, |y| ≥ √3 |x|, 2 |y| (√3 |x| - |y|) ≤ 1, |y| ≤ √3 |x|. We apply the domain of action method to determine its densest irregular packing. We find that the irregular packing is denser than its lattice packing.
