Are you ready for the Corner Office? Insights from 25 Executive Coaching Experiences
Subscribe/Renew Journal
I recently attended a leadership seminar, and I realized how wrong we are when we think that leaders have all the answers. Leaders also struggle with decisions, make mistakes, have weaknesses, have blind spots, and are sometimes unable to think clearly. What differentiates them from people who fall behind is that they have the humility to accept feedback and rectify their way of doing things. But for looking into a mirror sometimes, to be able to re-examine yourself may not be that easy. You may require a mentor, someone you can trust and someone who is non-judgmental to show you your areas of improvements and how you can ameliorate your leadership skills. A coach or a mentor in life can teach you significant leadership lessons which help you to grow and reflect on your experiences. This concept of executive coaching is well elaborated in the book, “Are you ready for corner office” and it is a book that I would recommend to all people who aspire to lead or become executive coaches.
